So, How Can I Let Affirmations Work Great for Me?
Following the examination of why affirmations don’t work for most people, it is simply good that we solve the problem. Otherwise, we are mere whiners. As a reminder, affirmations don’t work when we just say them on our lips without getting to feel them in our subconscious minds, when we think they are going to create that desire or when we try to use them to get Spirit to do something for us. Affirmations are words which, when we say or write, help us focus on a certain idea we desire so that we can go from giving attention by our will to feeling the desire in our hearts.
First thing we should bear in mind is we use affirmations to remind our subconscious mind what is our ideal reality that we have once forgotten due to our programming. That is, instead of feeling you’re using your affirmation to get something that isn’t there or become someone you already are not, let your intention be that you’re reminding your heart of what it already has, what already exists or who you already have been.
I call this conscious empathy with your subconscious. You’re mentally saying, ‘I get it. You forgot and that’s alright. Now, I’m reminding you. “The abundance already exists.” Or “I already Am who I choose to become.”’
In other words, instead of trying to use your affirmations to get, which means you sense there is lack and limitations, you are using them to claim or restore. To claim your inheritance as Spirit, who expresses all life, love, joy, harmony and beauty. To restore the image of creativity, productivity, well-being and happiness that you once had.
This is exactly why Dr. Joseph Murphy mentioned that many people become even worse when they start affirming, ‘I am wealthy. I am rich.’ Because they feel it is a lie, and they are unable to rise above that feeling and feel it as true. You can simply rise above that condition by letting all your affirmations be with the intention that you are reminding yourself. When you use them as intending to remind yourself ‘I once had this, and it’s been true — it’s true,’ it becomes easy to find your way to feel into it. Since you now have something (an image you remember) which you can imagine and focus your thought upon.
Whilst it is not very likely, certain among us may still feel their affirmation is untrue because they forgot how abundant and life they really have been. But let this feeling become really personal for you. So, do this simple exercise.
Visit a maternity clinic or someone you know to have just given birth, and take a look at the baby. No one has to tell you the baby knows only abundance. You can feel the aura, the energy. Then, remind yourself that you have once been a baby with no difference from this newborn. Let this always guard your heart, that you are not saying what hasn’t existed with you but you are reminding yourself what you have forgotten.
